mormonmessages

I absolutely love the mormon messages.  I could watch every single one every single week and still love them!  Steve is off Home Teaching right now (righteous boy :)) and I just watched every single one of those "...and I'm a Mormon" clips.  I love them!  It's so wonderful to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and it's so fun to see the different hobbies and lives that people have.  I want my parents to make one of those.  They would do an exciting, but a normal person type one :)

Stake Conference

We had Stake Conference this weekend and it was so wonderful.  Elder Richard G. Hinckley came and it was neat to see how much he really looks like and sounds like President Hinckley.  It made me miss him.  There were some powerful things said this weekend. The biggest message that I personally got from all the talks combined was about the importance of people.  The principle of relationships really does play a large part in the gospel I believe. They talked about service and about forgiveness and about kindness.  A member of the mission presidency said that the word "kind" is really an acronym for Know, Invite, Now, and Daily prayer. I left conference with a desire to be a true servant of the Lord by getting rid of selfish desires or habits and becoming a SERVANT to everyone.

The congregation hymn half way in was Praise to the Man and that was another significant part of conference for me.  What a cool song!  I love the prophet Joseph Smith and the spirit bore witness to me today that he really was a prophet of the Lord.  Gosh, the church really is so true and it's truer and truer in my heart as I learn from the scriptures and from our leaders :)

The day Jeff left the MTC.  He'll be a good missionary!  I tested his spanish and after only 2 1/2 weeks he was really good :)  We were surprised how close Texas and Guatemala are.  Poor Steve...way over there on the other side of the world :)

I married a smart man

Steve heard from the first school!  He heard back from George Washington in Washington DC. and they gave him a nice looking scholarship!  We opened it at the mailbox today right before I went to work.  I was so excited, it made the rest of my day giddy :)  It's going to be hard to make a decision because I think that every time another acceptance/scholarship letter comes, I'm going to want to change my mind and say, "oh, actually I want to go there..."  For now...GW is the only one we've heard back from, so I want to go there!  What an adventure that would be!  It would be so fun to live right there in DC and also live so close to Dave, Nikki, Hallie, and baby #2 :)  It's a really good option, so we'll just have to wait and see where our lives could take us next.  I'm grateful I get to do this fun adventure stuff with Steve--he's so wonderful ;)
