Grandpa Burrup

Last night my dear Grandpa Burrup passed away.  I love this man and consider him one of my heroes. His health hasn't been the greatest over the last several years, but this was still a bit of a shock when my parents called and told me. I will miss him a lot.  He always had good advice for whatever stage of life we were in.  I'll miss his chuckle and his smile.  I'll miss doing puzzles and watching football with him. He was a great man and I am happy that he is reunited with my sweet grandma again! I have felt closer to her as I've become a wife and a mother and I miss her a lot too.  What a happy day in heaven for them.

I'm disappointed that I don't have any great pictures of him!

This one though is from our wedding.  He was sick and my dad told me he wasn't going to make it to the temple ceremony.  But when Steve and I walked into the sealing room, there he was.  He was the first person I remember seeing as we walked in and it meant a lot to me that he would come (against doctor's orders even) to support us in our temple sealing. He insisted on coming.  My aunts Vicki and Mary and uncle Scot are also in this picture. I love them all :)

This picture is from Nate's baby blessing.  Grandpa has always been supportive of the small and the big things.  I think this might be the only picture I have of Steve and him. I was always impressed that he remembered details of our lives.  He knew Steve was from AZ and going to law school and liked sports and would ask him questions and give his advice.  That's pretty impressive to me that he would always try to connect to people on a personal level.  I love Grandpa Burrup and will miss him.
